Emang Basadi

ECES Deputy Project Director also the Senior Election Advisor, Mathieu Merino, conducted a needs assessment mission in Gaborone, Botswana together with Dalene Goosen, eLearning and Multimedia Advisor. The mission took place between 9 - 13 September and met with the SADC-ESN member organisation Emang Basadi among other interlocuters. Emang Basadi was founded 1986 and is one of the two womens organisations that are a part of the SADC ESN (the other being Zambia National Womens Lobby). The current membership-count is approximately 2 000 individuals, comprised of both men and women. 

 

The organisation's aim is to develop action oriented strategies and mobilise women to take steps that help change their social, political, economic and legal positions in Botswana. An integral part of the PEV-SADC project is to promote gender equality in the political and electoral sphere. Read more about the Emang Basadi on their website www.emangbasadi.org
