Robert Gerenge is the Principal Advisor for Election Management Bodies (EMBs) within the Department of Political Affairs of the African Union Commission where oversees technical assistance to the AU member states. He was previously the Head of Special Programmes for the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) where he coordinated multi-country programmes in electoral and governance strengthening targeting the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and selected countries. Prior to this, he worked on long-term as Electoral Advisor to Congolese electoral authorities and was also intermittently seconded to Political Affairs, reporting on conflict and political developments in Maniema province for the UN Special Representative of the Secretary General in the DRC. Robert has been involved in over 40 political and electoral processes in Africa and beyond including in conflict and post-conflict settings and has published on elections, governance, peace and security on the continent.
